Root chakra, corresponding stone = Haematite

The sacral chakra is at the base of the spine. This energy centre controls survival instincts. Its normal condition is open ten percent. If shut down, we tend to be what some refer to as accident-prone: stubbing toes,  and breaking bones. Hematite helps to balance the sacral chakra and is known as a "stone for the mind". It brings mental organization and is very grounding and calming. If the root chakra is stuck wide open, we experience everything in life as an emergency. Hematite is good at grounding out excess energy and acting as a stabilizing force. It decreases negativity and can help balance the body/mind/spirit. Physical symptoms of blockage to this chakra include lower back pain and Hematite helps to align the spine and mend broken bones.

 

 

Sacral chakra  corresponding stone = Red Jasper

 This energy centre controls the emotions, sexuality and creativity. Jasper helps to balance the sacral chakra has been thought to strengthen the stomach and cure gynaecological troubles. The sacral chakra’s normal position is open ten percent. If it is shut down, we tend to have a difficult time feeling our emotions, sexual impulses or creative inspiration. Metaphysically, red jasper is purported to have a stabilizing effect, and help one take all one's energy and use it in a balanced manner.  If the sacral chakra is stuck wide open, we tend to allow our emotions and sexual impulses to rule us and our creative drive might overshadow everything else in our life. Red jasper said in gemstone lore to be a stone used to help control one's own passions.  Physical symptoms of blockage to this chakra include digestive problems, sexual dysfunction and diseases of the sexual organs.

 

 

Solar Plexus corresponding stone = Camel agate

This chakra is our power centre. Its normal position is open ten percent. (Note that power in this context has to do with the amount of energetic life force flowing through us. It does not have to do with society’s definition of power over another person.) If it is shutdown, we tend to overcompensate for feeling powerless by acting completely opposite. We become a fighter always looking for a cause or figure with which to do battle. We tend to hide from our feelings of powerlessness by focusing on our anger. Camel agate helps to balance the solar plexus and increases physical and mental strength.  If this chakra is stuck wide open, we tend to feel like a victim, blaming others for the problems in our life, as opposed to seeing which parts are ours and which parts are other people’s responsibilities.  Camel agate promotes spiritual growth, inner stability and helps to stabilise the aura. Physical symptoms of a blocked solar plexus include ulcers and shortness of breathe.

 

Heart chakra corresponding stone = Green Aventurine

 This energy centre controls the loving energy that flows into and out of us. It also houses the Divine Spark, our connection to a higher power. Its normal position is as open as possible. If shut down we have difficulty receiving love or anything else from ourselves or others, and we feel cut off and all alone without feeling our connection to that Divine Spark within us. We also tend to feel hurt by others easily because when the heart centre is functioning properly, it acts as radar, identifying other’s energies so that we know exactly where they are coming from. Aventurine is strongly linked to the energies of the heart chakra.  Green aventurine is used to clear away negative emotions and strengthen and heal the heart chakra.  It relieves strong negative emotions such as anger and encourages positive feeling of gratitude, love, and hope. Physical symptoms of a blocked heart chakra include pain in the back between the shoulder blades and heart problems.

 

Throat chakra corresponding stone = Blue Lace Agate

This energy centre controls communication. Its normal position is as open as possible. When shut down, we have difficulty expressing. Blue lace agate is considered a stone of communication. It can ease the harsh edge off communication in difficult times, enhance public speaking, and smooth discussions. It also brings tactfulness to speech and written communications.  The throat chakra also contains telepathic channels in the sinuses and ear canals. Spiritually, blue lace agate assists reaching higher Spiritual planes, communicating with angels and activates the throat chakra. It can help bring stronger intuition and inner knowing. Inspiration is another hallmark of blue lace agate and that can assist in inner attunement, and has been said to be useful for performing miracles. When people constantly throw their opinions at us or think about us doing something for them, like phoning home, their energy gets dumped here. Physical symptoms of blockage include sore throats, sinus headaches, colds and earaches.

 

Third Eye corresponding stone = Amethyst 

 This energy centre controls clairvoyance and clairaudience. This is where we receive information from a higher source, where we know things that we have no explanation for knowing. The third eye’s normal position is as open as possible. Amethyst helps to balance the third eye and is said to open one's channels to telepathy, past life regression, clairaudience, clairvoyance, and communication with angels.  Amethyst is excellent for meditation and lucid dreaming. If the 6^th chakra is shut down, we might not be aware of receiving higher information and we might have a strong reaction to anyone suggesting that we can. Crown chakra corresponding stone = Clear or Rock Quartz

This energy centre controls our connection to Spirit, God, Goddess, Universal energy. Clear quartz helps to channel universal energy and is primarily associated with the crown chakra, but also works effectively to balance and energize all chakras. It is a power stone known as the "Universal Crystal"   The Crown chakras normal position is as open as possible. When shut down, we tend to feel lost, alone, abandoned and that no one can help us; we have to do it all by ourselves. Physical symptoms include pain at the top of the head. Clear quartz is excellent for harmonizing and balancing one's environment. Quartz is a Master Healer stone it is an excellent all purpose healer. It amplifies universal energy and is used to perform diagnostic healing.
